Crime Group Shot Director

Police investigators are blaming an organized crime group from Yekaterinburg for the shooting of a businessman, 39, in southern Moscow last Thursday, a Moscow newspaper reported.


Vladimir Plakhtienko, the director of the firm Gerus, was severely beaten in a stairwell on Litovsky Bulvar by three men, one of whom shot him several times, the daily Segodnya quoted police officers as saying.


Plakhtienko is in a stable condition in the hospital.


Police said he had argued with Yekaterinburg criminals.
