Chun Fast Ends

SEOUL () -- Former South Korean president Chun Doo Hwan was in tears Friday as he was put on an intravenous drip and forced to use an oxygen mask, nearly a month after starting a hunger strike following his arrest on mutiny charges.


"He seemed to be very sad that his fast has ended. He was in tears as he finally realized the fact," Yonhap news agency quoted a doctor as saying.


Chun, 64, Chun began his hunger strike Dec. 3, the day he was arrested, and was detained at Anyang Prison, refusing food and only drinking barley tea and milk. He later gave up drinking milk.
