Burmese Talks Urged

Nations should engage in dialogue with military-ruled Burma because the policy of isolating it does not work, Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said Wednesday.

Goh spoke with reporters on the last day of his visit, the first by the leader of a non-Communist nation to Burma since its soldiers crushed a pro-democracy movement in 1988.

The United States and other Western countries have curtailed aid and contacts with Burma since 1988.
