Brewer Seeks to Expand

PRAGUE -- Czech brewer Pivovar Ostravar a.s. is bidding to buy the state-owned Glubczice breweries in Poland in a search for new revenue outside a saturated Czech market, Ostravar's chairman said. Ostravar has entered a public tender conducted by the Polish Privatization Ministry for the breweries, which include the main Glubczice plant, and other smaller plants, Ostravar's chairman, Radimir Mastny, said last week. After a drop in exports to Slovakia last year, Ostravar tried to expand at home, but, Mastny said, the Czech market was already overcrowded
