Boat Catches Live Mine

VLADIVOSTOK, Far East () -- A fishing boat trawling off Russia's Pacific Coast pulled up a mine dating back to the 1905 Russo-Japanese war, Itar-Tass reported Monday.

The mine was raised in the Bay of Peter the Great, just off Vladivostok, on Sunday and was inspected by Russia's Pacific Fleet, the news agency said.

The fleet's experts said it contained 200 kilograms of TNT, was rusted through in places, and that its detonators were still ready to spring. The mine was taken away to be exploded late Monday, the report said.
