BBC Reporter Slain

NICOSIA, Cyprus () -- A Tajik reporter for the British Broadcasting Corporation was kidnapped and killed in Tajikistan on Tuesday, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported Wednesday.


IRNA said in a report from the Tajik capital Dushanbe that Muhiddin Alimpur, who worked for the BBC's Persian radio service, was "kidnapped and killed by unknown armed persons here Tuesday night."


It reported that the police found his body near the state university of Tajikistan on Wednesday morning. Officials were investigating but no one has claimed responsibility, it said.
