Arms Sales Criticized

AMSTERDAM () -- Russia's continuing arms sales to Iran are hindering its entry to the agency for stemming the spread of military technology to unstable regions, said a U.S. official.

After attending a conference of the former Cold War export policing agency CoCom, Lynn Davis, U.S. State Department undersecretary for international security affairs, said Moscow must stop selling arms to Iran before it can be accepted into CoCom's successor agency.

"It's everybody's goal to have Russia in the regime," Davis said. She did not specify what types of arms Russia is selling to Iran.
