Jordanian Debt Talks

MOSCOW (MT) -- Pyotr Aven Russia's foreign economic relation minister, was received by Jordan's King Hussein in Amman for a two-day visit aimed at improving economic relations between the two countries Itar-Tass reported on Tuesday.


Aven, who arrived on Monday, is expected to discuss Jordan's $214 millions debt to Russia.


The Jordanian government has beer trying to repay a portion of its debt by delivering phosphates, food and industrial goods to Russia, but negotiation are continuing.


In 1990, Russia had deferred repayment on a $168 million debt.
