Mikhailovsky GOK

Alexander Shchekochikhin, vice president of Metalloinvest industrial holding, was appointed chairman of the board of directors of Mikhailovsky GOK nonferrous metals processing plant.

Shchekochikhin said of the board?€™s plans: "The main direction of our work will be expenses. We will lower them through our energy savings program and the technical improvement of ore production and manufacturing. For this purpose, we will launch three investment projects this year."

Shchekochikhin was born in 1964 and is a graduate of the Automotive Construction Institute and the Russian Financial Academy.

He served as the vice president for finance at Rosneft oil company and later, first deputy financial director for ORT television channel. In 1999, he headed the financial services department of Metalloinvest, and in 2000, he was appointed first vice president of the holding.

Turbine Blade Factory

Yevgeny Yakovlev, general director of the Siloviye Mashiny consortium of energy machine-building enterprises, was appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Turbine Blade Factory. Vitaly Melnikov, the former chairman, had stepped down in accordance with the company?€™s charter.

Yakovlev was born in 1958 in Moscow. In 1981, he graduated from the department of international economic relations of the Moscow Finance Institute. From 1981 to 1988, he worked at Vneshtorgbank, where he was promoted from inspector to deputy chairman of the department. From 1988 to 1990, Yakovlev served as department chairman at Vneshekonombank.

He then worked abroad. From 1990 to 1994, he served as director of Eurobank in Paris, and from 1994 to 1996, he worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London.

Returning to Russian ventures, Yakovlev held the post of chairman of the board of directors of the Northwestern Steamship Line from 1996 to 1999. In addition, from 1997 to 1998 he was the first deputy general director of Norilsk Nickel. Since 1999, he has served as general director of the LMZ-Engineering company and in 2001 as general director of Siloviye Mashiny.

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts

Erich Banziger has been appointed general manager of the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in St. Petersburg that is due to open in mid-July.

Banziger was born in 1962 in Trogen, Switzerland. In 1986, he graduated from restaurant and hotel management school in St. Gallen, Switzerland. He began his career as an apprentice chef. At the end of 1989, Banziger worked in Asia, at the Beijing hotels Jianguo Hotel, Ramada Asia Hotel and Kempinski Hotel. He also worked at the Yangtze New World Hotel in Shanghai, Hotel Victoria in Hong Kong and the Capitol Club in Bangkok.

He came to the Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts network in 1997 as the manager of the restaurant department at the Radisson SAS in Beijing where he served as deputy general manager until his latest appointment.
