“To perceive the world of another person is impossible, you can only get an idea of it,” says artist Rostan Tavasiev. “Through art, it’s possible to reach through to the Other.”
 
Tavasiev is one of 22 young Russian artists on display at the Red October factory’s “Invasion: Evasion” exhibit, which closes Saturday. He is also one of eight artists showcased in a documentary film about the show, “Another World,” which will be shown at the space at 7p.m. Thursday.
 
Young director Dimitri Venkov followed the artists as they assembled their works on site over the span of three weeks, filming the process to give rare insight into the creation of the works.
 
Venkov divides the film into three parts. The artists explain their projects and describe what motivates them to create art before their idea of beauty.
 
“Another World” is a mix of the spontaneity provided by cinema verite style, interspersed with interviews with the young artists.

The exhibit and film viewing, organized by Baibakov art projects, are free. The show closes Saturday with a performance at 5:30 p.m. by Katya Bochavar and Andrei Bartenev called “White Rainbow Over the Table: A Musical of Spoiled Goods,” when the artists will destroy the project Bochavar created for the exhibit.
