Voice of America plans to start distributing selected audio newscasts in Russian, Chinese and 13 other languages to computer users starting Monday, VOA Director Geoffrey Cowan said in a statement.
The Internet is an international network of computer networks under the auspices of the U.S. department of Defense.
The plan is part of VOA's commitment to providing news to a potential Internet audience outside the United States of about 32 million people, the statement said Tuesday.
U.S. law precludes distributing the digitized audio newscasts to computer users inside the United States, according to the statement.
