A Ukrainian man living in Moscow has lost his driver's license after modifying his car to pledge allegiance to the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
The former DNR resident used a sticker to replace the Ukrainian flag on his car’s number plate with a flag belonging to the Russian-backed breakaway republic, the Gazeta.ru news site reported.
A Moscow court suspended his license for 6 months, ruling that the new number plate provided “false information” as to where the car was registered.
The DPR first broke away from Ukraine in 2014, after a period of intense fighting in the region. The republic currently receives military and humanitarian backing from Moscow, but is not recognized as an independent country on the world stage.
