Aircraft Designer Ivan Mikoyan Dies at Age 90

Ivan Anastasovich Mikoyan, one of the designers of the multi-purpose Mig-29 fighter jet, died in Moscow on Friday at the age of 90. 

Mikoyan worked all his life in the aviation design bureau founded by his uncle, Artyom Mikoyan, in 1939. 

Mikoyan received two Soviet state awards for his work in developing the Mig-29. He continued working as an adviser for aviation design at the Mig aircraft corporation till the end of his life.
