Man Slits Wrist on Flight to St. Petersburg

A man attempted to end his own life on a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the Fontanka.ru news site reported Tuesday.

As the airplane began its descent into St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport late Monday evening, the man — identified only as a 62-year-old Azeri national — locked himself into the lavatory and began slitting his wrist as he cried out, "I can't live like this anymore!"

Upon discovering the grisly scene, a stewardess contacted emergency medical services, who began tending to the man upon his arrival.

St. Petersburg law enforcement officers are currently looking into the incident.
