The Mongol-Tatar raid wiped out the city of Vladimir. Juliusz Kossak
776 years ago today, on Feb. 7, 1238, the Mongol-Tatar army plundered Vladimir, the capital of northeast Rus. The army wiped out Vladimir's entire population, and 12 more cities were destroyed later that year. The end of Kievan Rus was nearing.
