Sintez Buy Approved

The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service approved a request from Johnson & Johnson to acquire Sintez, according to a statement issued by the agency, Interfax reported Monday.

Sintez is involved in the wholesale trade of medical equipment and orthopedic products and is the Russian subsidiary of the U.S. company Synthes.

Johnson & Johnson reached a deal last spring to buy Synthes, the world's largest manufacturer of orthopedic equipment, for $21.3 billion.
