Severstal, Novolipetsk Steel and Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works called for anti-dumping duties on steel imports from China, saying the customs union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan must act to prevent a sharp rise in imports.
Russia began in February an anti-dumping probe into cold-rolled steel with polymer coating imported from China after complaints from the steelmakers.
"Despite the start of the anti-dumping investigation, Russian steelmakers have noted a sharp increase in imports" from China, a joint statement said Friday. In May, Chinese deliveries of cold-rolled steel with polymer coating were 50 percent higher than a year earlier, the companies said, citing data from the Federal Customs Service.
