A former deputy prosecutor for Moscow’s Northern Administrative District was sentenced Thursday to 13 1/2 years in jail for extorting 13 million rubles ($418,000) in bribes in 2007 and 2008, Interfax reported.
A lawyer for Vyacheslav Trofimov, 30, said his client would appeal.
Two of Trofimov’s accomplices were also on trial, with one, Alexander Yemtsov, sentenced to five years in prison and the other, Roman Arov, released with a five-year suspended sentence. Both pleaded guilty.
