Altai Gas Pipeline by 2018?

The Energy Ministry plans for a gas pipeline to be built to China through the Altai republic by 2015 to 2018, possibly faster than the South Stream link to Europe, Vedomosti reported, citing a draft program for the development of the gas industry to 2030.

The ministry will submit its draft, which is based on data provided by state gas exporter Gazprom, to the government by the end of August, Vedomosti reported, citing an unidentified Energy Ministry official.

The South Stream pipeline may be completed in 2015 to 2024, the newspaper said.
