The Investigative Committee has charged the director of the Raspadskaya coal mine, where two explosions killed 90 people earlier this month, with violations of mining safety rules that resulted in deaths, the Investigative Committee said Thursday.
Igor Volkov, who resigned this week after being lambasted by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. He has not been taken into custody.
The Investigative Committee did not say which safety rules Volkov was suspected of breaking.
