A man in Rostov-on-Don died after apparently falling from a ninth-floor window in the regional Investigative Committee building, investigators said Monday in an online statement.
The man, 60, arrived at the building with two lawyers at about 4 p.m. to be interrogated on suspicion of bribe-taking, the report said.
Ahead of the voluntary interrogation, the man reportedly asked to be excused to go to the bathroom on the building's ninth floor.
His body was subsequently found in the building's courtyard, showing signs of having suffered “a fall from a great height,” the statement said.
Investigators are looking into the details of the incident, the report said.
In a widely publicized incident last July, Boris Kolesnikov, the former deputy head of the Interior Ministry's anti-corruption department, plunged to his death from the sixth floor of Moscow's Investigative Committee headquarters during an interrogation into abuse of office charges.
