O.J. Trial Starts in Acrimony

LOS ANGELES -- O.J. Simpson's trial got underway Monday as defense lawyers accused a key police investigator of concealing information that they said raises doubts about whether Simpson was the one who killed his ex-wife and a friend.

The defense alleged that Detective Mark Fuhrman did not report an interview he had with Simpson's neighbor's maid hours after the murders. The maid is alleged to have said that someone appeared to have moved Simpson's car that night, and that "she heard voices and noises coming from the Simpson property until well into the early morning."

"Such information would tend to exclude Mr. Simpson as one who could have had time to ... commit the murders and return," they said.
