Hijackers Surrender

Three men who hijacked an Algerian airliner to Alicante in southeast Spain on Monday surrendered to police after five hours of negotiations, officials said.

The hijackers, believed to have been seeking political asylum, left the Air Algerie Boeing 727 at just after 6 P.M. and gave themselves up to paramilitary civil guardsmen surrounding the plane on the tarmac.

A total of 120 passengers and seven crew were on the flight when it was seized during a domestic flight between the Algerian coastal cities of Oran and Annaba.
