Football Penalty Box?

NEW YORK () -- In an attempt to curb some of the flagrant violence on the field, the NFL Competition Committee has been asked to study the possibility of introducing a penalty box for players who deliver dangerous hits to a quarterback.

Greg Aiello, the NFL's director of communication, said the proposal had been made by one team, but added that previous similar suggestions had not been enacted.

This season, several quarterbacks have missed games or parts of games because of concussions. But only linebacker James Francis of Cincinnati has been fined for a flagrant hit, against Dallas' Troy Aikman.
