Export Debt Warning

MOSCOW ) -- Russia will cut exports to other former Soviet republics in 1995 unless they pay in full before taking delivery, Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin said Friday.

Eleven ex-Soviet nations, which together with Russia make the CIS, owe Russian enterprises 7.5 trillion rubles ($2.2 billion), he said. With debts for natural gas deliveries accounting for 6.6. trillion rubles, Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom "will simply be forced to raise the issue of slashing deliveries," he said.
