Cyprus Swindler Sprung

LARNACA, Cyprus () -- A court Tuesday rejected a Moscow request for the extradition of a Russian businessman wanted for an alleged swindle involving nearly $500,000 and ordered his release.

Russian authorities claim that Alexander Bodrov, 31, from the town of Yoppa, who manages an offshore export company in Cyprus, had failed to deliver leather garments worth $432,000.

Judge Effie Papadopoulou said the request was justified, but she was unable to authorize it because documents submitted by Russian authorities were not properly notarized. She ordered Bodrov's release
