A Russian ban on the import of live cattle and beef from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium would affect $150 million of annual trade, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's attache in the Hague said.

The Schmallenberg virus has been found in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Britain, Bob Flach, of the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, said in a report on the USDA website.

Russia imposed a ban on live cattle imports from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Britain and France starting Feb. 1 because of the Schmallenberg virus, the government said on Jan. 31.
