Russian gas giant Gazprom is set to invest 100 billion rubles ($1.5 billion) in Kyrgyzstan?€™s gas pipelines by 2030, the Interfax news agency reported Monday.
One third of the 100 billion would be invested within the next two years in a significant boost to the Kyrgyzstan?€™s gas infrastructure, said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, following high-level talks in the country?€™s capital of Bishkek.
Alexei Miller, head of the Russian state energy company Gazprom, said earlier this year that the company was planning to invest more than $758 million into different projects in Kyrgyzstan. The move was hoped to increase Kyrgyzstan's access to gas from 20 percent of the country to 60 percent, the Vedomosti newspaper reported.
