Suzuran

Suluguni

Suluguni

Cheesy in more ways than one

Suluguni takes its name from an incredibly addictive cheese produced in the Samegrelo region of Georgia. The café's decor is verging on the tacky side — think faux chandeliers, a mock rustic interior and an ABBA playlist ?€” but the food is both tasty and reasonably priced. Relax in a kitsch throne and feast on khachapuri (cheese bread) and dolma (lamb-stuffed vine leaves) or grab dinner to go from the deli counter.

Kitaiskiye Novosti

Kitaiskiye Novosti

Chinese eatery in the heart of Moscow

Kitaiskiye Novosti on Patriarch's Ponds is the third restaurant of this fast-growing chain. Here you can try traditional Taiwanese style "three cup" chicken (410 rubles), Xialongbao dumplings steamed and served in bamboo baskets (410 rubles) or mapo tofu ?€” tofu with minced pork (380 rubles). The rice balls with red bean paste are delicious (360 rubles), especially with a pot of fragrant tea.

Suzuran

Hidden bar with a new cocktail menu

You won't find Suzuran if you don't know what you are looking for. Its only door is located in a gate-like structure next to a hotel. You have to ring an intercom and wait to be let in. The bar snacks are quite good (try the Vietnamese spring rolls for 450 rubles) and the cocktails, despite somewhat questionable names (like Slut Story or Snooty), are even better. All cocktails are about 500 rubles.

Lion's Head Pub

Lion's Head Pub

Walk on by

Owners of The Tipsy Pub and Tap & Barrel Pub opened a typical English pub with a standard English-pub interior. Sadly, the waitstaff is not very friendly and the menu is unoriginal: burgers, pasta, some fish, some meat dishes and very standard desserts. The beer should have been the draw, but it's nothing special. The beef isn't tender, the rabbit tagliatelle is chewy and the chicken burger tastes like a Big Mac but costs 600 rubles.
