On Saturday, more than 200 of Moscow’s museums, galleries, exhibition rooms and art centers will keep their doors open until the early hours of the morning, welcoming visitors free of charge to see their usual exhibits and putting on special after-hours events.

The Moscow Times has combed through the extensive listings to find the best offerings for everyone who wants to take advantage of the unique chance to see the city in a different light.

Best for Kids

Have a choir of beautiful voices sing your young ones to sleep at the evening concert of “Over Russia there is a Blue Sky.” The Glinka Museum will be holding a series of concerts including this presentation of vocal melodies at 19.00.

Best for True City Lovers

“Moscow Step By Step”: The story of Moscow’s history will unfold during a walking tour of the city’s oldest and most beautiful lanes and squares. Participants in the walk will learn the origins of some of the most interesting street names Moscow has to offer, and just why Europe envies the walls of Kitai-Gorod. The tour begins at 6 p.m. and will finish around 8 p.m. There will also be a second walking tour around the art hub of Volkhonka. beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Best for a Romantic Date

“Tsaritsyno by Night”: Four excursions — at 9:30 p.m., 10 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. — will give nighttime wanderers the chance to explore the beautifully romantic surroundings of Tsaritsyno Park and the architectural beauty it has to offer. Reservations are required!

Best for Dancers

For those light on their feet, visitors can participate in a ball in the Kazakovskiy Ballroom of the Grand Palace at Tsaritsyno. From 8 p.m.-11 p.m., participants can show off their skills to the sounds of waltzes, tangos, polonaises and other well-known dances. Bring your dancing shoes!

Best for Art Lovers

Try something that is not (only) art at the various branches of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, where the range of exhibitions, tours, concerts, screenings and installations on offer is simply incredible. For example, explore the concept of “media ballet” in the ballroom at 7:30 p.m. or 9 p.m.: Prigov’s poem “The Strange Bird” is being put to music by Iraida Yusupova at the building at 25 Petrovka Street. Or feast your eyes on Barta Dorsa’s Venetian sculptures and discuss the concept with the artist himself at the museum’s site at 10 Gogolevsky Bulvar.

Best for Music Lovers

Celebrate the 175th anniversary of the birth of composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky at the State Pushkin Museum. An ensemble of musicians from the Academic Music College will be performing some of this great musician’s works from 8 p.m.- 9:20 p.m. as well as showing clips and other projects put on by the Pushkin Museum.

Join a jam session with up and coming electronic music artists at MEM (Museum of Electronic Music) and learn about the art of electronic music from 6 p.m. to midnight. This the opening night of the museum, and an experience not to be missed!

Best for Scientists

The State Darwin Museum will be presenting a fascinating series of presentations and master-classes focused on the image of the stork in biological history and discovery. As the symbol of the family and of peace, the stork holds an importance that cannot be underestimated. The exhibition will continue from 6 p.m. to midnight. Classes are held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
