A video of a waitress beating off a customer with a menu after he pinched her bottom has gone viral, with the incident widely reported to have taken place in Russia.

The video, whose source could not immediately be verified by The Moscow Times, shows the waitress attending to two customers at a bar when one of them appears to try and stuff some money down her blouse.

She responds by pushing the customer backwards, and he falls off his chair. The customer is then seen in the video going up to the waitress and pinching her bottom, prompting her to hit him about the face with a menu.

After the man returns to his feet and aggressively approaches the waitress, she again thwacks him with the menu, leaving him lying on the floor while other customers and waitstaff attend to him, the video shows.

It was not clear from the video where it was shot nor when, but there is a sign with Cyrillic lettering on the bar and several media outlets — including the news site Mashable and Russian news agency RIA Novosti — have reported that the incident took place in Russia.

Every second woman in Russia has encountered sexual harassment, according to statistics cited by the ANNA Center for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, which adds that 30 percent of senior schoolgirls are sexually assaulted every year.
