Arthur Andersen



Lisa Gialdini has been named Arthur Andersen's tax and legal partner for countries of the former Soviet Union, Vedomosti reported. Previously, she served as a partner in the Vilnius, Lithuania, office of Arthur Andersen.

Gialdeny began her career in the Chicago office of Arthur Andersen in 1984. In early 1992, she was transferred to the company's Moscow office, where she worked as a consultant to the first wave of foreign investors in Russia and other CIS countries. At the end of 1994, she was transferred to Almaty, Kazakhstan, as the managing partner for the country and the director of the department of taxes and law. Then, for more than two years, she managed the departments for taxes and law for Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.




MDM-Bank



Andrei Melnichenko, chairman of the management boards of MDM-Bank and Konversbank, was nominated manager of the year in a competition held by the Institute for Economic Strategy and Economic Strategy magazine in December, MDM announced in a press release.

Melnichenko, 28, obtained a degree in physics from Moscow Lomonosov State University in 1995 and a degree in economics from Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics in 1997.

Mikhail Freid was appointed manager of the St. Petersburg branch of MDM-Bank, Vedomosti reported.

From 1992 to 1993, Freid worked for financial companies in Germany and Luxembourg. From 1994 to 1995, he sat on the board of directors of joint-stock bank Kredit Petersburg and from 1995 to 1996 was chairman of the board at Rossiisky Kapital (Moscow).

He was then the manager for the St. Petersburg branch of Moscow Industrial Bank.




Hedman Osborne Westphalen Alliance



Vyacheslav Chernov was appointed general manager of the St. Petersburg office of the law firm Hedman Osborne Westphalen Alliance, a newly created position, Vedomosti reported. The position was created as a result of an alliance between Finnish law firm Hedman Law and Osborne Westphalen Alliance.

From 1998 until his newest post, Chernov, 29, held the position of senior lawyer at Arthur Andersen.




Dialog Optim



Eduard Zamanyan was appointed deputy director of the board of directors of Moscow investment bank Dialog Optim, Vedomosti reported. He will coordinate currency operations, correspondent relations and operations with securities.

In 1992, Zamanyan began working as the deputy commercial director of the joint venture Mashintorg-Lida and then headed TMK. From 1993 to 1997, he worked at Interbank, where he was promoted to deputy general director.

Zamanyan came to Dialog Optim last year to serve as adviser to the chairman of the board of directors.

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein



Bob Foresman was appointed head of investment banking in Russia for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, DKW announced in a press release.

Most recently, Foresman held the position of director of investment banking for Russia and the CIS at ING Barings. He joined ING Barings in 1997 as head of corporate finance in Kiev.
