Fifty-two years ago today, on Aug. 6, 1961, the Soviet cosmonaut German Titov became the second-ever man to go into space, the first being Yury Gagarin. During the 25-hour-flight, Titov orbited the earth 17 times and took the first ever photos of our planet from space.
