10,000 People Protest Controversial Landfill in Northern Russia

As many as 10,000 people protested against plans to build the Shiyes landfill in northern Russia Sunday.

The anti-landfill movement passed the one-year mark last week as the public continues to cite health and environmental concerns regarding the estimated 10 million tons of trash to be brought in to the landfill over the next 20 years.

Independent polling has said that an overwhelming majority of respondents in the Arkhangelsk region opposes the controversial landfill’s construction.

… we have a small favor to ask.
