Eco-Conscious Russians Combat ‘Fast Fashion’ With Textile Recycling

Thanks to the popularity of “fast fashion,” the global fashion industry has doubled its production of new clothing items in recent decades, increasing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.

In Russia, a lack of options for recycling textiles means most of these clothes end up in the landfill once people are done wearing them.

Welcome to the city of Kostroma, where the Vtoroye Dikhaniye NGO is trying to make textile recycling the new norm in Russia.
