No Casualties After Crane Topples in Moscow Business District

A construction crane toppled over in Moscow.

A construction crane toppled over in the heart of Moscow's business district on Wednesday morning, damaging a car that was passing nearby.

The crane boom fell onto the outer lane of Testovskaya Ulitsa in the Moscow City business district and caught the back of a passing Toyota Subaru, the Interfax news agency cited a source as saying.

The source said the added weight of a layer of ice on the boom had caused it to lose balance and topple over.

The Russian capital this week enjoy warmer-than-usual weather, with temperatures hovering around 3 degrees Celsius during the day and slightly below freezing point at night.

According to preliminary data, no one was hurt in the accident, the city's emergency services said in an online statement.
