At least two people were killed and 17 others injured when a bus collided with a KamAZ truck in central Russia, police said Monday.
The privately owned Mercedes-Benz coach was trying to pass the truck on a road in the Ulyanovsky region when the driver lost control of the steering. The bus then hit the KamAZ truck before ramming into a metal guard rail on a bridge, the local Interior Ministry branch said in a statement.
Two passengers traveling on the bus were killed, including a girl, the statement said. Sixteen other passengers and the driver were hospitalized.
With many deadly car accidents in Russia caused by drunk drivers, the statement added that the driver of the KamAZ truck was sober and that investigators were still waiting on the test results for the bus driver.
