In a selfless act of bravery, a 55-year-old Muscovite almost drowned saving a dog that had fallen through a thin layer of ice and into the capital's Moscow River, Interfax reported.
Spotting the struggling dog last week in northwest Moscow's Strogino neighborhood, the man attempted to save the canine but nearly drowned himself before rescuers arrived on the scene in a boat and hauled both man and dog aboard.
The man was hospitalized with hypothermia.
