172 years ago today, on Dec. 2, 1841, the Anichkov Bridge — a landmark in St. Petersburg — re-opened after reconstruction. The bridge is most famous for its four horse sculptures and has appeared in the works of Pushkin, Gogol, and Dostoevsky.
