442 years ago today, on Oct. 28, 1571, Tsar Ivan the Terrible married Marfa Sobakina, his third wife, in Aleksandrovska Sloboda. Marfa died a few days later due to a mysterious illness, and Ivan, suspecting that she had been poisoned, became increasingly paranoid and killed many of his subjects.
