Russian specialists will be among international inspectors working in Syria under the auspices of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
Asked whether Russian representatives will be part of the group placing Syrian President Bashar Assad's chemical weapons under international control, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said: "I do not know about the leading group. But we will take an active participation in the entire operation," Interfax reported.
The first team of international disarmament experts entered Syria on Tuesday, but Bogdanov did not know if any Russians were among them.
