Iran Denies Malfunctions at Russian-Built Nuclear Plant

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a news conference on Tuesday that no problem has been reported at the country's Russian built Bushehr nuclear power plant.

Iran's ambassador to Russia, Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi was quoted by Itar-Tass as saying Monday that the Bushehr facility suffered a malfunction in its main generator. The spokesman said Sajjadi's comments were likely misrepresented.

The facility, Iran's only operating nuclear power plant, was officially opened in September 2011.
