Tigers Kill Woman at Novosibirsk Zoo

A Novosibirsk zoo employee died Tuesday morning after being attacked by tigers, the Interior Ministry's regional office reported.

Responding to an emergency call received at 11:40 a.m. local time, a police unit was dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident, Interfax reported.

According to police, one of the zoo's custodians had walked into a demonstration cage to clean it. But a door separating her from the area where the tigers were being held was not closed and the animals broke free from their enclosure and attacked her. She died at the scene from her injuries.

Police are looking into the causes of the incident.
