Bolshoi Ballet Director Discharged From Hospital

Bolshoi Theater art director Sergei Filin was discharged Monday from the hospital where he underwent eye surgery to treat burns from an acid attack on Jan. 18.

"I feel very well, I am full of energy and am completely healthy," Interfax quoted Filin as saying.

Alexander Mitichkin, the hospital's chief physician, said Filin's health was satisfactory and that he was due to travel to Germany for further treatment.

Filin, 42, was hospitalized with third-degree burns to his face and burns to his eyes on Jan. 18 after a masked attacker splashed acid on his face outside of his house on Troitskaya Ulitsa.

The identity of the assailant remains unknown.

Filin said he had been receiving threats for more than a month before the attack, and his colleagues said they believe the attack is related to his work.
