Google Announces Appointment

Google Russia chose Yulia Solovyeva, a former president of media group ProfMedia, as its new CEO, Google said in a press release, as cited by Interfax.

Solovyeva, who left her post at ProfMedia in February, was responsible for the creation and introduction of the group's portfolio strategy, asset management, corporate governance and financial results.

At Google Russia, Solovyeva will be responsible for strategic development. Before joining Google, Solovyeva worked at professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal. Google Russia's former CEO, Vladimir Dolgov, quit in mid-2012 and went on to head the Russian office of eBay Marketplaces, a division of the world's biggest online auction website, eBay.

Google is the second-biggest search engine in the Russian market, with a 26 percent share.
