Chelsea Makes First Profit

LONDON — Premier League Chelsea has moved into profit for the first time since billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the football club in 2003, reporting a small surplus after winning the Champions League in May.

Chelsea had a profit of £1.4 million ($2.2 million) in the financial year to end-June 2012, compared with a loss of £67.7 million a year earlier.

Abramovich has poured hundreds of millions of pounds into Chelsea, helping the club to win the English Premier League three times.
