Drunk Policeman Slams Into Ambulance

Investigators on Thursday opened a criminal case against a drunk policeman suspected of slamming his car into an oncoming ambulance and seriously harming a paramedic.

"As a result of the collision, the female paramedic in the ambulance received multiple grave wounds and was hospitalized," the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

No other injuries were reported, either to the drunk driver or to others in the ambulance.

The incident occurred at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, when the intoxicated suspect exceeded the speed limit while driving his Honda Odyssey along Leninsky Prospekt in the Krasnoyarsk region town of Kodinsk.

Investigators said they were carrying out an inquiry into the collision.
