Minister Found Online

The Ulyanovsk regional government has hired a head for its culture department online through an unidentified web-based recruiting agency, local news web site 73online.ru reported Thursday.

The local government was the first in Russia to hire a top official via the Internet in December, when it hired Yelena Bashalova to head its IT department through a tender on the Superjob.ru web site.

Now it sifted through 1,800 resumes to hire Irina Kotova, the former deputy head of the Lenin’s Homeland museum, located in the region, to oversee cultural policy, the report said.
