Two Georgian sheepherders were shot dead and 500 sheep stolen at a farm located 40 kilometers south of the capital, Tbilisi, the country’s Interior Ministry said Friday.
The sheepherders’ bodies were discovered last week in a field buried in a shallow grave, the ministry said on its web site.
Three people were detained in the case, the ministry said. One detainee, a close relative of the owners of the livestock, confessed to organizing the theft and sale of the sheep to a farmer in the area to repay debts.
