Aid Restored to Transdnestr

CHISINAU, Moldova — Russia has renewed financial aid to Moldova’s breakaway region of Transdnestr, halted this year over transparency concerns, the separatist parliament’s speaker Anatol Kaminsky said Friday.

Kaminsky said he and other officials had visited Moscow and presented full expenditure reports to Russia, agreeing that there would be another audit.

“We will receive $12 million before the end of this year,” he said.

A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman declined comment.

Russia transferred about $62 million in financial aid to Transdnestr from 2006 until last spring, when aid was frozen.
